Make SMASH-GLOW Crystals!!!

Thursday, December 30, 2010

In this video we make triboluminescent or smash-glow crystals. Triboluminescence is the phenomena where light is generated when something is rubbed or fractured. The exact mechanism by which triboluminescence works is still under investigation, but the best theories so far propose that the breaking of the structure causes charge separation that release energy upon recombination. This energy is picked up by nearby atoms, in this case europium, and released as light according to their ionization or fluorescence spectra. Many substances exhibit triboluminescence including sugar and tape. But Europium Tetrakis (Dibenzoylmethide)Triethylammonium is one of the strongest available and its glow can easily be captured by a camera. It's made by mixing 100mL of Ethanol, 2.93g of dibenzoylmethane, 1.4g of europium nitrate pentahydrate and 1.9mL of triethylamine. The mixture is heated until everything dissolves and then allowed to cool slowly to obtain crystals that are filtered off and washed with ethanol. After thorough drying they are ready for use. A frequently asked question is if this stuff is hot when it is used. The answer is no, the crystals do not undergo a chemical transformation and thus they do not release or consume heat, but remain at constant temperature. There may be some small heating due to friction when they are broken, but that is not from the crystals or a special property of triboluminescence.

The Wonderful Game of Soccer

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Soccer is a game which is liked and admired by the people of all the countries for the special game which it is. This game has become utterly famous and can be played only by two teams, each of which should have eleven players. The spherical ball or soccer ball in the game acts as the link between the two teams.

Soccer is always played only in a rectangular field which is mostly made up of grass. However, artificial turf fields are also used for playing the game and the goal is present at the center of the end zone for each team. Kicking the ball into the goal post of the opponent team is the way by which a goal is made. Except the goalkeepers, the rest of the players can only touch the ball with their feet. The goalkeepers can use their arms and hands to prevent the ball from falling in their goal. Sometimes, to push the ball forward the players do use their head and body.

The winner of the game is the team which earns the highest points in the game. The game can come to a draw if both the teams make the same number of goals. However, penalty shootout or extra time can be allotted if the teams score the same score.

The origins of football can be traced back to as early as 1863 and the Football Association gave birth to this amazing game in the nation of the United Kingdom. This organization was responsible for starting the game and the game was created on the basis of the Laws of the Game. Nowadays, the countries who take part in soccer abide by the rules set out by the International Federation of Association Football also known as the FIFA.

The world-prominent soccer match is the FIFA World Cup which occurs only in four years and the regulations mentioned in the Laws of the Game govern the matches played in this competition. The teams participating in the matches each have a captain who has the right to make decisions during the game.

The players are strictly restricted from touching the ball with their hands at any part of the match and when the normal play is on, the players can send the ball in any direction they want, with the only exception that the ball cannot be kicked to the offside. Several strategies are used by players so as to score a goal which includes dribbling and passing the ball to fellow teammates and during the play the teammates of the opposite team will try to break the pass of the ball.

The game time of a football match is 90 minutes which is divided into halves of 45 minute with a break of 15 minutes between the two parts. Referee manages that there is no ill-feeling between the players throughout the game and that all the Laws of the Game are followed in the match and his say is taken as the final decision concerning the match.

Soccer is widely referred to as football and is the most famous of all the games which is liked and appreciated by both the players and spectators all over the world and people eagerly look forward to watch the FIFA World Cup.

Brazil 3 Usa 0 18 06 2009 Fifa Confederations Cup USA vs Brazil 3-0 Goals Highlights [Confederations Cup 2009] - 18.06.09 www.fifa.com Gols: Felipe Melo, Robinho, Maicon Brazil returned to their brilliant best in Tshwane/Pretoria, cruising to a 3-0 win over USA and inching closer to the semi-finals of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. For the second game running, the Americans had a player sent off and Kaka, Robinho and Co were in no mood to take their foot off the accelerator as they strolled to their second straight win of these finals with goals from Felipe Melo, Robinho and Maicon. Brazil came out flying and, with USA looking overwhelmed in the centre of the pitch, Michael Bradley was forced into a pair of early fouls in dangerous territory. The second proved costly, as Maicon's swerving free kick picked out Felipe Melo. The Fiorentina man slipped his marker and nodded home at the back post with only seven minutes gone. It was an ominous start for the US, who never quite came to grips with their South American opponents, despite some positive work from Landon Donovan. Robinho was only just denied Brazil's second in the 12th minute thanks to a last-ditch lunge by Oguchi Onyewu. However, the big centre-half could do nothing in the 20th minute when a rare moment in attack for the US - their first corner kick of the game - turned into a nightmare. Donovan's short corner rolled under DaMarcus Beasley's boot and straight to a yellow shirt. The counter-attack that followed ...

ENGLAND WORLD CUP 1966 "GOAL" part 1

Friday, December 24, 2010

London's Wembley Stadium provided the venue for the final, and 98000 people crammed inside to watch. After 12 minutes 32 seconds Helmut Haller had put West Germany ahead, but the score was levelled by Geoff Hurst four minutes later. Martin Peters put England in the lead in the 78th minute; England looked set to claim the title when the referee awarded a free kick to West Germany with one minute left. The ball was launched goalward and Wolfgang Weber managed to poke it across the line, with England appealing in vain for handball as the ball came through the crowded penalty area. With the score level at 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes, the game went to extra time. In the 98th minute Hurst found himself on the score sheet again; his shot hit the crossbar, bounced down onto or near the goal line. Whether the ball actually crossed the goal line or not has been a matter of discussion for decades, and the controversial call has become part of World Cup history. Recent digitally-enhanced footage is said to clearly illustrate that Geoff Hurst's second goal did cross the line In the last minute it was Hurst again, who dribbled easily through the German half to net his third goal, just as the gathered crowd invaded the pitch to celebrate with the team, thus cementing the victory for England with another controversial goal. This made Geoff Hurst the only player ever to have scored three times in a World Cup final.

Alex Jones Tv: Potential False Flag Attack To Be Blamed On Muslims Foiled

Potential False Flag Attack To Be Blamed On Muslims Foiled Text size Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet.com Tuesday, January 26, 2010 A possible false flag terror attack to be blamed on Muslims has been foiled after a Navy vet was busted with a grenade launcher, assault rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, as well as Arab headdress, in New Jersey yesterday. Initial media reports speculated that the man was planning a terrorist attack on a US military base in the area. Lloyd Woodson, 43, whose last known address was Reston, Va., today faces multiple offenses, including second-degree unlawful weapons possession and fourth-degree possession of prohibited weapons, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said, reports the New Jersey Star Ledger. Branchburg police confronted Woodson at 3:55 am at the Quick Chek convenience store on Route 28 after receiving a call reporting a suspicious person. Branchburg Patrolman Steven Cronce noticed a large bulge beneath the green, military-style jacket that Woodson was wearing, which was later determined to be the assault rifle with a defaced serial number, Forrest said. After searching his hotel room, police found a grenade launcher, hundreds .50-caliber and .308-caliber rounds, a police scanner, as well as Middle Eastern red and white traditional headdress. The man may have had plans to attack a US military base, reported Fox New Jersey, adding that the amount of weapons he had led police to suspect he was a terrorist. The FBI were ...

Free Soccer Training Drills - How to Switch the Ball

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You might disagree, but hear me out on this. While practicing free soccer training drills, one of the best plans to attack the other team is, to keep exchanging the ball within the team members, and finding a loop hole in the defenders of the other team thus achieving the goal. Follow the techniques given below, during the soccer coaching drills, and train the players accordingly to impart these skills.

Match winning tactic: keep the ball swinging between attackers from right to left; engaging the defenders in between. Look a good opportunity and attack the goal. To relief the players from stress, ask them to keep the ball switching.

The quick switch or the blind pass: Train one or two of your mid-fielders to dribble to the right, using the right foot, and then swing the ball to the left, sending almost a blind pass. Left-footed mid-fielder, can perform the trick by moving the ball using the left foot and throwing it back to the right side using left foot.

The defender on the other side won't suspect the pass and you can achieve the target.

All the players should always be ready for this type of pass so ask your team to regularly perform the technique. This is most challenging technique during the soccer drills; that would enable the entire player to comprehensively participate in the soccer practice.

This drill requires six small goals on either side of the pitch. The team scores where the player runs through the goals which are placed in the middle, while playing from the back. They get two points for passing through the last goals as this encourages switching.

Throughout free soccer training drills, the goals should be made adequately wide to teach that there is not much use only to put a player between them to avoid a run or pass. Running from point A to B should be assigned to one player. When the players are between the goals, attackers won't be able to attack and goal.

Young defenders have tendency to move away from their designated positions. They tend to move to the point, where the ball is being played. Thus the attackers should always be alert of the target areas and try to switch the game to the other area while making use of the defenders absence in that area.

During following sessions of football drills, try to teach them to cover the entire width of the ground. Practicing this skills multiple time will yield a good understanding of the threat area.

As I am sure that you are full of information, include these practices in your free soccer training drills, so your players are always ready and the opposition mid-fielders find it difficult to catch your defenders out. 2010 FIFA World Cup Match Reviews - England Versus Algeria, Group C

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

England was not only the favourite to top Group C, but also one of the favourites to win the World Cup. Facing tournament minnows Algeria, England was expected to romp to victory by at least two goals. The game was not the most exciting for the neutral fan, but it had a great storyline. England was held 0-0 by Algeria in the first-ever meeting between the two countries. It was a splendid result for the Algerians while English fans were very disappointed. The result left England needing a win against Slovenia to ensure qualification. The pressure was on the English - not only for the result, but also for the way they played.

Algeria and England used different goalkeepers from their opening games, since Chaouchi and Robert Green made blunders in the opening round - the kind of blunders you pay for with points. The opening exchanges were even, with England having more ball possession. Most of the shots taken in the first half were off-target. Algeria was hanging in during the half, but England did not show the urgency or creativity that even the likes of Uruguay was able to display in the World Cup.

The teams entered halftime locked at 0-0.

England made no substitutions at the half, which was surprising given the way they played. Perhaps England coach Fabio Capello felt it was a matter of time before his side breached Algeria's defence. It was only in the 62nd minute that England made a change, with Shaun Wright-Phillips coming on for Aaron Lennon. The match continued in a scrappy fashion. England did not manage to control the pace of the game and had the number of shots at goal restricted to long-range, ambitious efforts. It did not help England's cause that Wayne Rooney was rarely in possession of the ball in the attacking third.

Capello introduced Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe in the 73rd minute and sent in Peter Crouch in place of Gareth Barry in the 83rd minute. Despite his efforts to get a win that would give them wiggle room in the group, England lacked creativity towards the end. The frustration was evident on the faces of the English players as the Three Lions really failed to roar. England only had 15 shots on goal for the entire match; Algeria had thirteen. The draw left Group C wide open, since any of the four teams had a chance of qualifying when the final round got underway.

Reebok's United Kingdom-based ancestor company was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So, in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them.

By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes. The family-owned business proudly made the running shoes worn in the 1924 Summer Games by the athletes celebrated in the film "Chariots of Fire."

NBA Players Motivated by Jersey Sales

Monday, December 20, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Lebron James recently announced that he will retire his number 23 to honor Michael Jordon. This initiated discussions throughout the league about whether other teams should follow suit and retire number 23 altogether. Clearly this is a respectful gesture on Lebron's part, but is there an ulterior motive? After all, despite his MVP season in 2008-09, the top selling jersey belonged to the Finals MVP, Kobe Bryant. Even if The King doesn't switch teams, switching numbers will surely catapault him to top-selling jersey status since his biggest fans will buy his new jersey. Even Shaq, now in the twilight of his career, has managed to have his jersey reach top 10 status this year by switching teams. Clearly a change in number or team will provide a reasonable bump in jersey sales.

Lets look more closely into the motivation behind such a move. We know it's not driven by money. In the NBA, the total receipt from jersey sales are lumped into one big pool and then all the players are paid equally from that pool. So yes, the Celtics' Brian Scalabrine gets the same amount as the Paul Pierce and is grateful to Pierce every year for that paycheck. So if not money, could it be ego? Let's see, millionaire athletes competing against one another on the biggest stage of their sports. I think it's safe to say there is an element of pride. It's like winning a popularity contest, and better because it's measurable. And Lebron's not the only one by any means, Kobe himself changed his number from 8 to 24 and experienced a big jump in new jersey sales.

Aside from being number one, at some level, NBA players must love the idea of having so many fans out there wearing a jersey with their name on it. It's a clear demonstration of love and adoration. What could be better than having thousands of fans wear your jersey, even years after you retire in some cases?

The good news for fans is that in order to reach the stratosphere of top jersey, the player has to achieve something. For instance, two other top jerseys were Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose. Howard led his team to the NBA finals, while Rose pushed the previous champion Celtics to a thrilling 7-game series during the playoffs. And as a result of their on-the-court success fans rewarded them with jersey sales. So in the end, winning on the court leads to winning in jersey sales.

Soccer Skills - How To Improve Your First Touch

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many players around the world struggle to keep the ball with their first touch. This is either by poor technique or lack of awareness or where defenders are. Watch the best players around the world as they have spent many hours honing their technique on how to control the ball properly. Below are a few techniques and drills that will help you improve both your first touch and ball control.

How to control the ball

Receiving

When receiving the ball, it is better to keep the ball moving into space or away from a defender, rather than to bring the ball to a complete stop. When receiving the ball, it's important to make contact just above the middle of the ball to keep the ball along the ground. It's important to cushion the ball, this brings the ball under your control. The good footballers can always settle the ball quickly and away from defenders and into space. This gives them extra time to keep one step in front of the opposition. To be able to move the ball into space and away from defenders, it's important that you are aware of what you are going to do with the ball before you get the full stop.

Trapping

Trapping is different to receiving in the way that trapping is to bring the ball to a complete stop. Trapping is typically used when the ball is traveling too fast for you to control effectively. When trapping the ball it is important to stay relaxed and on your toes. In contrast to being tense and stiff, this allows you to adjust quickly. When trapping the ball cushioning plays an important part. When cushioning you need to take the pace off the ball, this is done by withdrawing your foot at the moment of impact.

How to practice control

The easiest and most effective way to practice control is with a partner. You and your partner can practice the different types of control by passing the ball to each other or throwing the ball to each other. If you cannot get a partner, the next best thing is a wall. A wall gives you the chance to practice the skills that you want for as long as you want. With a wall you can practise simple passing and receiving to volleys and chest control. It's important when practising ball control, that you practice with both feet. Being able to control the ball with both feet makes you unpredictable to defenders.

Control with the inside of the foot

When controlling the ball with the inside of the Foot, the supporting leg must be slightly bent and must be planted 45 to 90° in relation to the path of the ball. At the moment of contact, cushion the ball along the original path, moving the ball either into space or away from a defender.

Control with the outside of the foot

This technique is useful when you have the defender pressuring you from behind. Firstly you must get your body in between the ball and defender standing slightly sideways with your arm slightly raised, to be able to Push or hold off a defender. The supporting leg must be slightly bent at a roughly 90° angle from where the ball is coming. On the moment of contact the ball is cushioned with the outside of the foot giving the defender no chance to get the ball fairly.

Adidas Soccer Ball - It's Humble Beginnings

Image : http://www.flickr.com

ADIDAS came from the combined three-letter nickname of Adolph which is Adi and the first three-letter of his last name which is Dassler, thus forming the most famous brand, ADIDAS and where the leading Adidas soccer ball came from. Adidas' advent into soccer ball begun in the early 1970's when FIFA soccer commissioned the company to supply the annual competition with its official match ball.

Way long before the 1970 Mexico match, Adidas has been inspired already by the Chilean World Cup in 1962. They were so engrossed of that match that the company named their first series of World Cup balls "Santiago". This was the start of the company's success. Many of their soccer ball series came out after the initial feat of their Santiago.

Listed below were the names of the company's historical soccer ball series and the years they were produced:

1970 (Mexico): TELSTAR - It consists of 12 black panels of pentagon patterns and 20 white hexagonal patterns fitted together.

1974 (West Germany): CHILE-DURLAST - This model followed the TELSTAR success in Mexico.

1978 (Argentina): TANGO - This model is named after the national dance of the Argentina, the Tango.

1982 (Spain): TANGO ESPAÑA - This is the first Adidas soccer ball to be fitted with the most advanced water-proofing materials.

1986 (Mexico): AZTECA - This model is a little more advanced, polyurethane made and water proof.

1990 (Italy): ETRUSCO - Aside from polyurethane foam interior, fabric coated underneath layer is coated with latex to prevent tearing and maintained stability.

1994 (USA): QUESTRA - It is meant to fly faster when kicked. It was made of polystyrene foam exterior.

1998 (France): TRICOLOR - It is named after the three-colored French flag.

2002 (KOREA-JAPAN): FEVERNOVA - This ball has a thicker inner layer to have an accuracy of its trajectory.

2006 (Germany): TEAMGEIST - This latest model is dubbed the most accurate and the most precise soccer ball ever produced by the most successful company.

For sure this is not the last ball that this company could produce. As long as this company existed, more and more innovations would still continue to come up and will be enjoyed by future players.

Genesis of Football Shirt

The modern day football shirt traces its origin to Victorian era in English history. Prior to 1863, there was no regulation for player's uniform in football. The two rival teams were distinguished from each other by color of the caps and the scarves, worn around the neck. The first football uniform regulation was introduced in 1870. Initially the player, who could afford to wear the shirt more often, was able to play for the team. The first jersey was manufactured in 1879 by Bukta and later in 1883; the term football shirt was coined.

During this period the shirt was made of hard cotton fiber, to withstand shirt tugging during the match. However gradual changes in the rules led to introduction of light weight shirts. The shirts in team colors were initially restricted to players only. But from middle of twentieth century due to new concepts in mass production and steadily increasing demand of the fans; replicas of team shirts were manufactured on mass scale.

The modern version is short sleeved for summer and spring use, and long sleeved for winter. The material used for manufacture of shirt is polyester and nylon, because of their light weight and the comfort they provide to the wearer. Nowadays the shirts are button-less and even without collars.

In 1939, the football league management introduced numbers on the players' shirt. The goalkeeper got number 1 because his position was fixed at the goal post, unlike the other players whose position changed throughout the match. In 1965 substitutes were given 12 and 14 numbers, while the goalie got number 13.

In 1954, FIFA introduced squad numbering system which made it mandatory for players of the national teams to wear the same number throughout the tournament. On April18th 1993, in the League cup the name and the number of each player were printed on the back of the shirt. The 1994 world cup for first time in its history saw, both the name and number printed on the back side of the players.

The football shirt worm by the goal keeper is different from that of his team members. Initially in 1970's the color of the goalie shirt was restricted to green, red, blue or white. The goalie shirt looked like long sleeved vest and the other type looked like, a v-necked polo sweater. It was modified to lighter version and looked like athletic shirt; like the one worn today by goalkeepers.

From the early 19th century heavy cotton uppers, to modern day trendy designer shirt, with huge demand among the fans, the football shirt have come a long way indeed. The replicas of shirts of national or club teams are widely manufactured and easily available for the fans. They wear the replicas of the football shirt to show their love and support for their team. This increase in sales of shirts has increased the revenues of the clubs. Further the official sponsor of the team has their logo of the brand affixed on the shirt. This has facilitated advertisement of corporate brand in front of the global audience that the game of football attracts.

Soccer Gear and Equipment - Basics Required to Play

Monday, December 13, 2010

One of the things that make soccer such a wonderful sport for the average sports fan is the fact that you don't need any fancy or expensive equipment to play. That may be one of the main reasons why soccer is the world's most popular sport to date. It' fun, it's easy and it's cheap! Whether you are 8, 18 or 80, you can enjoy a game of backyard soccer with only:

Ball - this can be a standard soccer ball, or another type of kicking ball.
Open space to play - no matter where you live: the desert; the jungle or somewhere in between, soccer can be played as long as its fairly open (this helps to avoid broken windows from straying balls).
A few friends - even though you can always kick the ball around yourself, soccer is more fun to play with a group of 2-20.
Lots of energy - soccer is a fast-paced game of perpetual movement, so make sure you have plenty of energy and are ready for some exercise before you head out to play.

Even though there is very little in the way of equipment you need to play soccer, there are a few items that some players find helpful if you can afford it, especially when playing on a more formal team.

Soccer Ball.

While soccer has been played in some parts of the world with a variety of kick balls, tin cans, or basically any item that can be "kicked around," most players prefer a regulation soccer ball to make play easier and safer.

Cleats.

Cleats (spiked shoes), can be one of the most important pieces of equipment for team soccer players since they help the players stay balanced no matter what the ground surface (sand, dirt, grass or even mud). When buying soccer cleats, make sure they fit correctly - snug, but not tight, and choose the style that best suite the weather conditions and physical terrain in which you'll be playing.

Shin Guards.

Although not required equipment, especially for informal neighborhood play, shin guards are a great way to protect player's legs from injury. Attack players usually prefer lightweight shin guards that offer more mobility, while defensive players prefer a tougher more durable style.

Goal Keepers Gloves.

Many goalkeepers prefer to wear a specialized playing glove to get a better grip on the ball as well as save fingers, joints and the palms of the hands from harm.

Goalposts.

Unless you're playing an official league game, ad-hoc goalposts can be anything: trees, cars, playground equipment, even people!

Uniform.

Although soccer can be played in any comfortable clothing, most players prefer to play in shorts (usually knee-length); a cotton jersey and thick high socks (usually to the knee) to help protect the calves and legs from injury.

As you can see, even players who purchase a full uniform and the standard soccer equipment can do so for a minimal investment compared to most other sports. But don't let an inability to buy long socks, cleats or a colored jersey stop you from enjoying this wonderful sport. There are players everywhere who play only a ball and their friends every day all over the world! That's what makes soccer so great.

Soccer Referee Uniforms

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Here is what you will need

Soccer referee uniforms will let you be comfortable while on the field. The colors will distinguish you from the soccer players so you don't get tackled.

Referee Shirt

The soccer referee shirt is made to set you apart from the teams that are playing. There are numerous color combinations available. The color you wear will depend on the colors that the soccer teams are wearing.

Here are some of the standard colors that are available:

Basic Black with a white collar, the original.
Gold with black pinstripes
Black with white pinstripes
Red with black pinstripes
Blue with black pinstripes
The materials used to make a soccer referee jersey are very similar to a players jersey. Most are made with 100% polyester, or a microfiber material that will wick the sweat away from your body.

The pocket will hold your referee's wallet, and it will have a Velcro patch on the pocket of the shirt, so you can apply the badge of your association without having to sew it on.

They are available in both long and short-sleeved versions so you can dress to suit the weather.

Shorts

Black. That is the standard color. So go with it.

The shorts are made of 100% polyester with 3 pockets. There are two side pockets and one back pocket with a Velcro closure. So you can keep your cards in your shirt or in your shorts.

The waistband will have elastic teamed with a string to keep your shorts up.

Socks

The socks are.....you guessed it, mostly black. They are made of acrylic / nylon blends. Some will have a reinforced foot for added comfort but they are pretty basic. Although you can get them in:

Solid black
Black with white stripes at the top, or
Black with a solid white section at the top.
Although soccer referee uniforms are not very glamorous, you will be surprised at how good you look when you get the right referee gear.

Buying Soccer Shirts

Are you looking for some of the best soccer shirts? Soccer shirts are really becoming popular all over the world because it speaks about the passion for the game of football. Football fans all over the world prefer to buy soccer jerseys because they would like to claim that they are die hard fans of a particular international league or football team and wearing soccer shirts probably makes them feel that they are supporting their favorite team in some way or the other. Today, you will find that every single football team has its own jerseys which they design after a lot of thought process.

If you are looking for a soccer jerseys than you can walk into any sports store and you will definitely find a collection of different football jerseys that you can select from. Most of the soccer shirts are designed exactly the same way as the professional footballers wear on the ground and therefore you will find that soccer jerseys might cost you some extra bucks for the amount of efforts that the manufacturer has to make while making these soccer shirts. If you are looking for cheap football jerseys than you can walk into any normal shirt shop and you might even find same kind of jerseys there as well, but there would be a huge difference when it comes to fabric quality as professional sport store keep jerseys made out of polyester fiber and cheap soccer jerseys are made out of natural fiber that would make you sweat more in sunny conditions because they have no ventilation in them.

Many people who are looking for good quality soccer jerseys at an economical price also prefer to surf the cyberspace and find out about websites that sell soccer shirts. These websites are totally dedicated for selling football kits and therefore they ensure that the soccer shirts they are selling of best quality. Another reason why good quality soccer jerseys on the website have low price than in the shop is because website owners do not have to maintain any shop. Sports stores have to endure many charges like maintenance of the shop, electricity bills and so on and therefore they have to add a few more dollars to the actual jersey price. Websites that sell soccer shirts provide various options like colors, size and designs to their customers so that their customers shop from them often.

Do Not Bet Against the South African Rand in 2010

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

South Africa's economy will face a challenging 2010. While South Africa is surviving the international economic disasters of the past 18 months, it has not remained unscathed. Many indicators point to a positive 2010. The 'science' of Economics is (in my opinion) first and foremost a social science, but there are a number of positive comments and reports I would like to refer to.

In the 28 December 2009 edition of the Bangkok Post, Michael Preiss, Senior Investment Adviser at Standard Chartered Private Bank, wrote the following: "Borrowing US dollars to invest in Brazilian real made a 40% net/net return, the best carry trade of 2009, followed by South African rand at 33%"

Considering that the year ahead will see a less volatile Rand, returns like those noted above should not be expected. However, I believe that the outlook for the Rand, and the South African economy, should not be underestimated.

On the 21st of December, the South African Reserve Bank released its latest leading indictor - showing a rise at a faster pace in October than in September. The leading indictor combines a range of measures, including, among others, manufacturing hours worked, building plans approved and vehicles sold. Michael Belby of the Business Day writes: "After a patchy start to the year, the trend has been solidly upwards". Commenting on SARB's leading indictor, Elna Moolman, group economist at Barnard Jacobs Mellet said "At the beginning of the year, when it started to improve, it was mostly financial market components that boosted it, but by now it is quite broad based. That is very encouraging".

South Africa's inflation rate is expected to ease in 2010. According to the University of Stellenbosch's Bureau for Economic Research, CPI will moderate to 5.7 percent in 2010, down from 7.2 percent in 2009. In the 4th quarter of 2009, there was in increase in Rand Merchant Bank's Bureau of Economic Research business confidence index. JP van der Merwe of TradeInvestSA highlights that this is the first increase since the 3rd quarter of 2009.

The IMF's World Economic Outlook was released in October. The IMF predicts growth of 1.7% for the SA economy in 2010. This is a modest forecast, and while it may seem like a gloomy prediction by the IMF, JP van der Merwe notes the IMF's praise of South Africa for its fiscal policy, future growth prospects and the resilience of South Africa's banking sector.

The 2010 'africapractice survey' was released on the 15th of December. It is a survey of business leaders across Africa. All respondents expected foreign direct investment to rise in 2010. 95% of business leaders expected to grow their businesses in the year ahead. And while many respondents were optimistic about the FIFA World Cup, most felt that the benefits would be limited to South Africa.

I support Jacob Zuma's words:

"The year 2010 must be the year in which for the first time, we all communicate positive messages about our country to the world - the successes and possibilities. We have to put the culture of negativity behind us."

South Africa's economy will face a challenging 2010.

Despite, and in spite of, these challenges, all bets are on

World Cup 2010 Posters

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are many World Cup 2010 Posters, but the official 2010 FIFA one was unveiled on 23rd November 2007 in Durban. The idea behind it was to invite the world to join in the celebration of the greatest soccer event ever portraying a country in the shape of a man heading a ball. A beautiful poster with a yellow background, a brown head shining thanks to the green and red highlights with deep symbolism. The African dream came through: for the first time the African soil is hosting it with pride and passion.

Furthermore the nine host city posters where unveiled during the 500 day celebrations. Of course there is all kind of official material, that has been introduced in order to have a souvenir of this outstanding and unique moment in soccer's history.

It really is an outstanding and unique moment as there is no soccer player in the world, that believed, that one day he was going to play such a major championship in South Africa. A nation which has been sadly known for the Apartheid and today is hosting people from all over the world having a common ground where race, color, religion and anything else has no value, but only the balls and the soccer players, that score the most goals.

Interesting to note how things can change in time, something, that until yesterday was not possible is coming through. Unfortunately the Bafanas from the host nation did not make it out of the preliminaries, but Ghana, the only African team in the quarters, has carried with pride the celebration of this continent.

Now that the World Cup soccer 2010 edition is getting closer to the end and that the picture is quite clear everybody should get at least one of the many World Cup 2010 posters if not the official one with the country in the shape of a man heading a ball.

FIFA World Cup 2010 - Team Profile - Italy

Monday, December 6, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Italy are the defending champions. Next to Brazil, they have the best record at the World Cup, having qualified for all but 2 of the 19, so far.

They went unbeaten in the qualifiers, winning seven and drawing three. They are expected to top group F, where they should have it relatively easy with only Paraguay likely to mount any kind of challenge to their supremacy. The others in the group are inexperienced New Zealand and Slovakia.

The experienced Fabio Cannavaro (130 caps) and legendary goalkeeper, Buffon, are among the stars that make Italy the formidable outfit they are. Among other players to watch are Gilardino, who top scored in the qualifiers, and midfielder, Gattuso, who has the talent to convert into a striker when his team requires.

Marcello Lippi, Italy's coach, is confident that his team is the best in the world. In the last couple of decades, Italy have been accused of being defensive, and in a recent friendly against Cameroon, their failure to score underlined this.

Apart from his bluster, Lippi could also be faulted for ignoring striker Balotelli, who was on a goal scoring spree in 2009, for Inter Milan.

Italy are likely to face either Cameroon or Denmark, in the round of 16, and their entry into the quarter-final appears assured, where they are likely to face their first strong challenge, from favourites Spain. If they get past that hurdle, they are likely to run into Germany in the semi-final. This is the biggest stage of all - the World Cup. Can Italy retain their crown?

The Melbourne Cup

Sunday, December 5, 2010

The Melbourne Cup, Australia's major thoroughbred horse race held annually, is one of the most famous of its kind in the world. It is held on the Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, at 3:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday every November, and this is the most important and the most eagerly-awaited Tuesday for Australians both in their home country and outside. The Melbourne Cup Day is a public holiday for Melbourne and for a large part of the rest of Australia. The saying goes that the Melbourne Cup is the race that stops the whole nation, however actually in reality, most Australians the world over stop to follow the race. Those who are not used to heavy betting also try their hand at small wagers.

It has several other fringe attractions also. From the days of its origin, the Cup is a place where the high society of Australia makes an appearance and they definitely make sure they are seen. Hence, every year, Flemington naturally transforms into a venue for a very interesting and spectacular fashion parade where members of the high society vie with each other in the choice of their apparels and accessories and their style and fashion.

A racewear competition for men and women is held during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. The women's competition is held as part of the distinguished MYERS Fashions on the Field that searches the whole of Australia to find the most stylishly and well dressed women in Australia. The focus on fashion has grown so much over the years that one feels that it sometimes overshadows the importance of the race itself.

All over Australia, in all the states, there are several events organised to celebrate the Melbourne Cup in various ways. Besides racewear competitions that are held in every state to find the best dressed men and women, the Design Award and the Millinery Award, there are small wagers, heavy betting and sweepstakes. Outside of Melbourne, both in Australia and New Zealand, people watch the race on television and gamble through direct betting or through wagers at the workplace or any other clubs or organisations. In New Zealand, the Melbourne Cup is the biggest betting event and the races are shown live on big screens on the major tracks.

Sydney has its own share of events and live entertainment organised in connection with the Melbourne Cup. Races shown on giant screens and walls, trackside marquees, fashion parades, indoor, garden and rooftop parties, wagers and sweepstakes are some of them. In Sydney, leading restaurants offer interesting lunch and dining options on the Melbourne Cup Day. The events organised around the Sydney Harbour make the best out of the beautiful views offered by the world's most beautiful natural harbour. There are lunch, dinner and party options available around the harbour. These events combine the advantages of the beauty of the harbour as well as the excitement of the Cup, making them the best celebrations of the Melbourne Cup around the Sydney Harbour. On the pre-Melbourne Cup Lunch Cruise offered by the Magistic Cruises, one can indulge in a great lunch and wine, or champagne in celebration of the Cup, and enjoy the views around the Sydney Harbour. The cruise returns you ashore in time to watch the pre-race celebrations and then the actual race, in great excitement and high spirits!

The same kit which retails for $300 had a massive 663 percent increase in sales over a period of just 24 hours. And it was only available in online soccer stores.

Want To Surprise Your Loved Ones With Soccer Gifts?

How about a wedding giveaway ball or anniversary soccer ball? Some may want an antique old-style soccer ball to remind them of their playing days. You can actually get balls made of genuine leather used in the 1950s.

It is possible to get the best tickets to an Old Trafford match directly from season tickets holders. They can also be bought over a secondary ticket exchange. Innovative online entrepreneurs have forged alliances with companies from across the globe to offer you tickets for top US and European matches. It's actually fun trying to beat others to a coveted seat at the location of your choice.

Availability Is Not An Issue

While looking for soccer training equipment, you may not find the right goalie gear at a local store. It would be quite tiresome and time consuming trying to locate a store that stocks the gear. Online, you have the power to visit as many stores as you wish to choose from several kits that match your requirement. An added advantage is that it could be available at a highly discounted rate. You can buy cleats, balls, jerseys, giveaways, promotional articles, or other soccer shopping items online.

Get The Item Delivered To Your Doorstep

Online outlets have come to stay because they deliver on what they promise. Items are shipped across continents at great speed. It is possible to make arrangements for the best soccer shoes to reach your home beating geographical constraints. Logistic details have been fine tuned to perfection. First FIFA Soccer World Cup 1930

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The first FIFA World Cup was played in Montevideo, Uruguay. Uruguay is a small country located in South America and between Argentina and Brazil. Uruguay joined FIFA in 1923 and a year later, in Paris, 1924, became the first South American team to win an Olimpic Soccer Title. Uruguay also win the Olimpic Soccer Cup in Amsterdam, 1928. After the 1928 Olimpics, the FIFA, decided it was time to establish a World Cup Competition, due that International football can no longer be held within the confines of the Olympics, and many countries where professionalism was recognized and organized cannot any longer be represented there by their best players.

So, Uruguay was selected by FIFA to be the first host for the FIRST SOCCER WORLD CUP 1930 Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay and the host country Uruguay from South America. The United States and Mexico from North and Central America, and Yugoslavia, Romania, France and Belgium from Europe.- No more countries from Europe due the long sea voyage, it could take up to a month. This angered the Uruguayans, who where celebrating their national Centenary at the time and had offered to pay all expenses.

Given that most nations today would sell their souls to get into the World Cup final stages, it's strange to think that so many countries decided no to play in the FIRST WORLD CUP 1930.

Well, in the Championship Game, Uruguay drew first blod against Argentina, through Pablo Dorado, but Argentina equalaized eight minutes later with a goal by Carlos Pencelle and took the lead when striker Guillermo Stabile scored. But Pedro Cea from Uruguayan team, tied the game early in the second half, before goals by teammates Santos Iriarte and Hector Castro, please note that player Hector Castro had only one arm, and security victory for Uruguay
Final: URUGUAY 4 - ARGENTINA 2

URUGUAY WAS THE FIRST CHAMPION OF THE FIFA WORLD CUP 1930.-

Schedule For Cricket Match Series Between South Africa and India

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Amidst the war to retain number one position in five day test matches, India is really keen to play with its nearest competitor - South Africa. The plan was made on a very short notice. BCCI (Board of Cricket Control of India) requested South Africa board for this series. South Africa also showed its interest for the competition and they decided for a series in India.

Now, the schedule has arrived and these two nations will play two test matches and three one dayers between Jan 31 and Feb 27. They will also play couple of practice matches in the meantime.

The entire schedule follows:

Jan 31: South Africa (SA) team arrives in Mumbai

Feb 1: SA team travels to Nagpur for the first test match

Feb 2-Feb 3: SA team plays two day practice match at Nagpur

Feb 6-Feb 10: First Test Match in Nagpur

Feb 14-Feb 18: Second Test Match at Eden Gardens at Kolkata

Feb 21: First One Day International (ODI) between India and RSA in Jaipur (Day/ Night match)

Feb 24: Second ODI between India and RSA in Kanpur

Feb 27: Third ODI between India and RSA in Ahmedabad (Day/ Night match)

It is apparent that whoever wins the Test Series will retain the pride of being number one in the 5 day test matches. India has advantage of playing on home ground, but South Africa is known for their strength to challenge teams at their home turf too. We look forward for another exciting series where both the teams are likely to play with their full strength.

Concrete and Jersey Barrier

Precast jersey barriers have universal usage; they are ideal for securing vacant properties or buildings, and prove to be a very efficient deterrent to unwelcome visitors. As more and more industrial units and factories are becoming empty, owners want peace of mind knowing that their buildings are not going to be vandalised and damaged. Concrete barriers or jersey barriers make for ideal perimeter security walling and can be placed neatly next to each other - creating an affective barrier to vehicles.

When trying to secure an empty site there are a number of steps that should be taken. The first and most important step is to do a full survey of the perimeter; identifying all weak points. Once this process has been undertaken suitable steps can be taken to ensure that the perimeter cannot be breached. As well as concrete barriers, there are a number of alternative methods that can be used. Simply digging a ditch to ensure vehicles cannot enter, can often be an extremely effective solution.

Entrances and exits are an obvious weak point. This is where a concrete barrier or jersey barrier can be very effective. Placing a concrete barrier in the way of anyone trying to gain access will generally be enough to stop them entering, particularly given that the jersey barrier will weigh in excess of 2 tonne. If cost is an issue, then firms will often hire the barriers to you, meaning costs can be kept down.

Its always worth remembering that it is much better to deal with the potential problem now, rather than waiting for the site to be broken into. The costs of clearing someone off the land will generally be considerably higher than securing it properly in the first place.

The Necessity Of Good Insurance In South Africa

Image : http://www.flickr.com

South Africa has a need for insurance just as much as any other country in the world. Luckily, there are many good insurance companies in our country. But why do we need good insurance companies in South Africa, and why do we need them even more so than other countries? Firstly you need to keep in mind that South Africa can be a very dangerous country. You are more at risk in South Africa of having your home contents stolen, or your vehicle involved in a collision. We will look into this further.

First of all, we will talk about your motor vehicle. It is an unfortunate fact that South Africa has a higher incidence of collisions than any other country in the world. This is due to a number of factors.

Firstly, there are more people driving on our roads illegally, meaning that they do not have a legitimate driver's license.

Secondly, a lot of the cars on South African roads are not actually roadworthy! The highest cause of collisions in South Africa is because of people driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. Why is this happening in our country? Well first of all, it is because we do not have a reliable and good public transport system, so people feel they have no other choice but to drive their own vehicles.

Furthermore, people are not educated enough about the dangers of drinking and driving, and the cherry on top is that there is a corrupt policing system in place which is not effectively enough crunching down on drunken driving. The quality of some of South Africa's roads are poor, and this can also lead to collisions. As you can see, there are many factors that contribute towards the high accident toll. Irrespective of the reasons why there are so many collisions, you need to take the necessary measures to protect yourself and your vehicle. Having motor insurance is the best thing you can do. What would you do if you were in a collision and did not have insurance? Would you be able to afford to fix the damages, or even replace your vehicle completely? Probably not! This is why you should seek out a motor insurance policy.

Next up we have life and medical insurance. Firstly, medical insurance is something that is so important. Bear in mind that medical insurance is not necessarily the same as medical aid. Medical insurance will cover you in case you need to pay for something medical related that is very costly and is not covered by your medical aid. Life insurance is a very specialized policy in that it will only pay out upon your death. You pay a monthly contribution, otherwise known as your premium, and then your beneficiaries will be paid out a lump sum when you pass away. This sum is already decided on when you sign up for the policy. This is a very nice thing to do for your family, and is especially recommended if you provide for other people financially. Remember that the younger you are when you take out the policy, the cheaper the premiums will be.

It is easy to see why insurance is an absolute necessity in South Africa, just as it would be anywhere else. Taking out an insurance policy for anything is simply the wise thing to do. You can easily find good, reliable insurance companies online.
