Lake Baringo is part of the mighty 50 kilometre long Great Rift Valley that cuts through Kenya from north to south and its exceptional location helps to make it a valuable habitat for a great deal of plant and animal life. Many safari camps provide boat tours and a journey on the lake is an experience that should not be missed as it is the only realistic way to see the lake in all its splendor. The White Tailed Eagle is one of the region's most beautiful and majestic birds and usually nests in the trees that are located close to the water. Even though the lake and surrounding landscape have not yet been officially designated as a national park, the scenery is still mostly untouched and most certainly worth a visit.
